The Crab Effect

There will always be people who don’t understand your next right step. And, that’s okay. Surround yourself with the ones who cheer you on anyway.

The first time I moved to LA, in 2018, I had a close friend who was very critical of my choice. She said things like, “You can’t move! Your community is here,” and “You can’t just run away from everything.”

A year later, she moved out of state, too, proving that her criticism was never about me—it was just a projection of her own resistance to taking the leap she deeply wanted to take. I’m so happy she finally did.

It always reminds me of the Crab Effect, where if you put a bunch of crabs into a bucket and one of them tries to escape, the other crabs instinctively pull it back down, not realizing that the one curious crab could actually lead them all to freedom.

If you’re the one who wants out of the bucket, keep climbing. By nature of your boldness, you will trigger fear and judgement in others. But, don’t let that stop you.

Once you make the big, aligned choice, you’ll begin to see open doors where others see obstacles. And, you’ll get to experience the mysterious beauty of being divinely supported every step of the way.
