Gypsum’s Call
I love how a place can change you. Strike you with its magic, shift your perspective, and even bless you on your journey…
White Sands has been calling to me for years, and I’m so happy I finally found my way there.
Learning that its “sand” is actually gypsum made the experience even more special. Gypsum is a mineral that crystallizes into selenite (a purification crystal) and also grinds into alabaster, which was widely used in ancient cultures to make sculptures.
This mysterious white desert in the middle of nowhere was the first stop on my summer journey to reconnect with the West and revive my creative spirit.
I love the symbolism of being purified by the Sands and prepared for the future “sculptures” I will create—all because I followed my joy and ventured curiously onto a heart-led adventure (that, yes, has already forever changed me).
